Did you know that there are five different types of Chlorine.
1. Sodium hypochlorite
2. Calcium hypochlorite
3. Lithium hypochlorite
4. Trichlor
5. Dichlor
In South Africa we don’t even talk of chlorine. We just call it HTH. HTH has saturated the chlorine market in South Africa in such a way, that we don’t even know that we have a choice of other brands. The pH for HTH is around 12 therefore pool owners will have to add Acid regularly to lower the pH to around 7.4 to 7.6. Adding Acid to a Chiptile Pool is not good, since it eats away at the grouting and you will soon need to re-grout your pool. Re-grouting can be costly. HTH does not contain a Chlorine Protector and therefore gets sucked up by the hot African sun very quickly. If you are stuck on HTH, you can purchase a chlorine protector like Africhem Chlorine Protector.
We have this product available at DC Pools for only R98. Add 1kg Africhem Chlorine Protector per 50 000L of water.

If your open to use Africhem Chlorine we sell 4kg of Africhem Chlorine for only R241.

Calcium hypochlorite is used for household pools. It is very safe and has a quick release and low scale. Temperature and hard water do not affect it in any way, and it does not damage soft surfaces. Using granular chlorine gives you better control over your chlorine levels. Africhem Chlorine is a sanitizer that kills. Chlorine is the most commonly used disinfectant in public and private pools, and for good reason. It has a long history of successfully killing viruses in the water, including SARS, another type of coronavirus. Proper operation and disinfecting of pools should kill the virus that causes COVID-19.
HOW TO ADD CHLORINE TO YOU POOL
1. You can use a splash floater for a small pool for R98

Or Pace Floater for a larger pool for R 108

A floater is a chlorine dispenser for chlorine pills that floats around the surface of your pool, slowly dissolving and releasing the chlorine into the water.
This is the cheapest and easiest way to add chlorine to your pool but it’s also the least effective way. Floaters, like the name says, floats around on top of the wate,r that means it doesn’t dispense very well and this in turn leads to poor sanitation.
They also get stuck behind pool ladders and then causes the chlorine to build up in one area of the pool. This high concentration near the edges can bleach your pool. They’re not good to have in the pool when people are swimming.
Just add 3 measurements of Africhem Granular Chlorine to 50 000L of water to start with.
